Terms of Service
Effective October 9, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Vogel CC, which makes Brightkeep. By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using Brightkeep, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. We've kept them short and plain.
Who can use Brightkeep
- Accounts are for grown-ups: a parent or legal guardian, 18 or older, living in the United States.
- Kids play on a grown-up's account. Only a grown-up can add a kid, set up a device for them, or invite another grown-up to help.
- Brightkeep is invite-only for now, so we may say "not yet" to new families while we grow.
You're in charge of your family's account
- You're responsible for your account and for what happens on it, including the devices you set up for your kids and the grown-ups you invite.
- Keep your email account safe: sign-in codes go there. If you think someone else got in, tell us right away.
- Give us information that's true, and only add kids you're the parent or guardian of (or have that parent's permission to add).
Plans, trials and canceling
- Brightkeep is a subscription for the whole family, paid monthly or yearly. Prices are shown before you buy, in US dollars, and sales tax is added where it applies.
- A first plan usually starts with a free trial (30 days; beta families get their free months instead). You won't be charged until it ends, and you can cancel before then and pay nothing.
- Your plan renews on its own each month or year until you cancel. Stripe handles payment; we never see your full card number.
-
Who sells you the plan: most plans are sold through Link. Stripe's affiliate Sold through Link, LLC sells the plan to you for Vogel CC as the merchant of record, works out and collects the sales
tax, and sends your receipts; your card statement shows
LINK.COM* BRIGHTKEEP, and you can also manage the plan at link.com. A plan that Vogel CC sells directly has Stripe process the payment for us, and the charge shows as BRIGHTKEEP. Your receipt and the Plan page say which yours is. Brightkeep itself, and these terms, come from Vogel CC either way. - You can cancel any time from the Plan page of the parents' page. Your plan keeps going until the end of the time you've paid for, then stops. We don't give partial refunds for the time left, but if something went wrong, write to us and we'll make it right. For a plan sold through Link, Link can also refund a payment within 60 days under its refund policy.
- Switching plans is prorated: you're credited for the unused part of the old plan.
- If a payment fails, Stripe tries again for a while. If the plan ends (because you canceled, or payments kept failing), your kids' adventures pause until a plan is running again. Their heroes and progress wait for them for 12 months; after that we delete your kids' information, emailing you first, as the Privacy Policy says.
- We may change prices. We'll email you before a change reaches your plan, and you can cancel before it does. Founding families keep their founding price for as long as their plan keeps going.
Playing fair
Please don't:
- use Brightkeep to bother, bully or frighten anyone, or put rude or hurtful words in names or notes;
- try to get into another family's account, or into parts of Brightkeep that aren't yours;
- copy, scrape, resell or reverse-engineer the game, or overload or attack the service;
- use Brightkeep for anything illegal.
If someone does, we may pause or close the account. We'll tell you why, unless the law or someone's safety says we shouldn't.
Brightkeep is ours, your family's data is yours
The game, its art, music, stories and code belong to Vogel CC. We give your family a personal, non-transferable right to play it while your account is open. Your family's information stays yours; the Privacy Policy says what we do with it, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
The game is provided as-is
We work hard to make Brightkeep good for kids and to keep it running, but it's provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Brightkeep helps kids practice; it isn't a replacement for school, a teacher, or a grown-up's judgment.
To the extent the law allows, Vogel CC isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about Brightkeep is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits a right that the law says can't be limited.
Closing your account
You can stop using Brightkeep whenever you like: cancel your plan, then write to us and we'll delete your family's account. We may close an account that breaks these terms, or stop offering Brightkeep altogether; if we stop, we'll give you notice and refund any time you've paid for and won't get.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change is important, we'll email the grown-ups on each account before it takes effect. Using Brightkeep after that means you accept the new terms.
Texas law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Texas. But please write to us first: most things can be sorted out with an email.
